Chula Ari Hosted an Academic Seminar on “Well-being on the Thai Elderly in the COVID-19 Era

            Chulalongkorn University Platform for Ageing Research Innovation or Chula ARi, together with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Department of Older Persons, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Institute of Public Policy and Development (IPPD) and Institute of Geriatric Medicine, Ministry of Public Health hosted an academic seminar on “Well-being of the Thai Elderly in the COVID-19 Era” with the objective of presenting the national-level joint research results from College of Population Studies and United Nations Population Fund as well as the research results throughout Bangkok community in Chulalongkorn University Platform for Ageing Research Innovation (Chula ARi) area on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, from 8.30 – 12.00 a.m., at the Social Innovation Hub meeting room on the first floor of Visid Prachuabmoh Building.

           In this regard, we were honored to hear an opening remark from Mr.Najib Assifi, an Acting Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) of Thailand and Prof. Chakkaphan Sutthirat, Ph.D., Vice President of Research Affairs. Moreover, Prof. Vipan Prachuabmoh, Ph.D., Dean of College of Population Studies and Planning Director reported the activities as follows:

           1) a presentation of the well-being of the elderly in Thailand during the COVID-19 era survey results and policy significance by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wiraporn Pothisiri, Ph.D. and Asst. Prof. Rukchanok Karcharnubarn, Ph.D., College of Population Studies Chulalongkorn University 2) paradigm shift seminar to set an active ageing policy in the COVID-19 era Suchitra Pittayanorasate, Director-General of Department of Older Persons, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Wasana Im-Em, Ph.D., Chief of United Nations Population Fund of Thailand, Sakarn Bunnag, M.d., Director of the Institute of Geriatric Medicine, Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health, Sorapop Kiatpongsan, Ph.D., M.d., Director of the Institute of Public Policy and Development (IPPD), Dr. Wongwat Lewlak, Deputy Director of the Bureau of City Hall's Health Department, and 3) seminar on the well-being of Thai elderly in the COVID-19 era from a representative of the elderly and a community leader by Prof. Vipan Prachuabmoh, Ph.D., Dean of College of Population Studies, Chulalongkorn University 4) project achievements.
